The Pescara Tourist Port building works began in June, 1984 when the Pescara Chamber of Commerce was granted use of the harbour area and built a first functional area, part of the whole tourism/accommodation complex.

Later on, in May 1988, the Chamber of Commerce established its own internal port management body: The Pescara Tourist Port Management Authority entrusted with the task of completing and managing the Marina. Lastly, on January 4, 2003, the Pescara Chamber of Commerce assigned the Pescara Tourist Port Management Authority to the sole shareholding company Società Unipersonale MARINA di PESCARA a r.l., based in Pescara, Via Papa Giovanni XXIII.
